Search
and Retrieval
Acrobat
Reader, a free software application, is used
to retrieve, view, and print documents created
by DIS Imaging (we do not charge on a per-seat
basis to retrieve and view documents).
DIS
Imaging's indexing and retrieval system was
developed by Adobe for the U.S. Department of
Defense.
First,
the PDF file is an exact replica of its paper
counterpart and cannot be altered without leaving
an electronic footprint. This was a key reason
for the U.S. Federal Court System's selection
of the PDF file format for its CM/ECF document-archiving
project.
The
PDF document format allows anyone to view the
document independently of the hardware, operating
system and application software that was used
to create the PDF document. Furthermore, it
can be transferred and shared across multiple
computer platforms, creating an ideal document
format for use on the Internet or in corporate
environments.
Multiple
users can simultaneously view a PDF document
using a free software application (Acrobat Reader).
Other systems, which use the TIFF file format,
require special viewers, thereby restricting
information sharing outside of your corporate
environment.
By
using the PDF file format, you are assured that
your client's investment in this technology
will not become obsolete. If they decide to
expand into workflow or share documents on the
Internet in the future, the PDF format will
expand with them, as every electronic document
they create now can be used in future environments.
Because
any alterations to a PDF document leaves an
electronic footprint, they can be stored on
a hard drive or an organization's server. This
eliminates the need for expensive optical drive
hardware and IT technical knowledge.
